If you're a New York Knicks fan you're probably in a pretty dark place right now. Last season, the Knicks won 54 games and advanced to the second round of the playoffs for the first time in over a decade. They were exciting to watch and gave fans some hope that maybe — just MAYBE — with a couple roster tweaks they could compete for a title. But as we all know being optimistic about the New York Knicks is almost always a mistake and although they're only 3.5 games out of the last playoff spot Madison Square Garden has been home to the most hilariously inept basketball team in the NBA. There may still be a month until the end of the regular season, but why wait to celebrate how #blessed everyone has been to watch the Knickerbockers this year.

Just in case you forgot the Italian 7-footer was the No.1 overall pick in the 2006 draft. His putrid season ended when he attempted to posterize two members of the 76ers and tore a ligament in his elbow.

As an immigrant, with a British, Indian, and slightly American accent, Annu Palakunnathu Matthew, who lives in Rhode Island, is often questioned about where she is “really from.”
When she says she is Indian, she often has to clarify that she is an Indian from India to clear up the confusion between her type of Indian (from the country of India) and Native Americans, also known as Indians or American Indians.
The confusion between the two Indians was a source of amusement for Matthew and also the central idea for her photography series, An Indian from India, currently on display at the Smithsonian's Beyond Bollywood exhibition.

“Bad Johnson” Has, Perhaps, The Most Ridiculous Movie Poster Ever
Star Cam Gigandet explains the origins of the poster, debuting exclusively on BuzzFeed, and why the phallic-focused film has a lot of heart too.

“It was such a long process trying to figure out what was acceptable and what would send the message we actually wanted to send,” Cam Gigandet told BuzzFeed of the poster for Bad Johnson, his new comedy hitting VOD on April 1 and opening in theaters May 2.
And, as ridiculous as it may seem, the exclusive image above pretty perfectly conveys the film's plot: Gigandet plays Rich Johnson, a ladies' man who wishes his penis away after constant cheating costs him yet another girlfriend. But Rich quickly learns to be careful what he wishes for after he awakens the next morning to discover his penis has taken human form.
Understandably, Gigandet was initially wary of the comedy's plot, but he quickly came around after reading the script. “Yes, it's raunchy, but that's not all there is to this movie,” he said. “[Rich's] whole life is about instant gratification, and he needs to become a man. It's a relatable journey and story — OK, well, aside from the losing-his-penis part — but the idea of having things taken away if you don't value them was very relatable to me.”
And, as the poster implies, Bad Johnson is filled with lots of gratuitous eye candy — nothing new for Gigandet, who previously covered himself up with merely a box of Famous Amos cookies in Burlesque . But, according to the actor, no matter how many times he's required to disrobe on camera, nude scenes never get any easier.
“I don't know if I'll ever really get used to seeing myself naked on screen, but I understand it's part of the job and part of telling a story,” he said. “When there's no reason for it and it feels silly, then I get a little squirrelly — which has happened. But it all makes sense here. I'm really curious to hear what people think of this movie.”

As the Syrian conflict's three-year anniversary approaches, Amal Hanano, a Syrian activist based in the US, wanted to honor the memories of those killed. So the Aleppo-native started the 100,000 Names campaign. On March 14, Hanano will lead a 72-hour-long recitation on the White House lawn of 100,000 names of those killed in Syria. “We want the violence and bloodshed to end,” Hanano told BuzzFeed. “We want to go back to the roots of the revolution, which was freedom.” Hanano collected the names from Syrian activists and the British-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights. In the 15 days leading up to the anniversary, she has also been tweeting portraits, drawn by journalist Molly Crabapple, of Syrians killed in the conflict. Here are the faces, names, and stories of 15 fallen Syrian citizens.

Continuing my experiment into current pop music that I have never listened to, I decided to hunker down and listen to all four of Taylor Swift's studio albums.

Full disclosure: I have never listened to a Taylor Swift song all the way through. I had no idea she had four albums. All I know is that she writes about boy problems. I went into this with an open mind hoping to be pleasantly surprised. Here goes nothing.

“Tim McGraw”: “When you think Tim McGraw I hope you think of me”? Great, now every time I think of Tim McGraw I'll picture you, Taylor. Also, so far this song isn't super memorable.
“Picture to Burn”: Why wasn't this the first song? It starts strong and grabs your attention. Her accent is pretty thick on this too. She's really selling that Southern thing, ain't she?
“Teardrops on My Guitar” – Radio Single Remix: Who is Drew? How are teardrops getting on your guitar? Are you just standing over it crying? Again, WHO IS DREW?
“A Place in This World”: Eh. This seems like the song she might play at a concert and her fans will be like, “Why'd she choose this one?”
“Cold As You”: Were each one of these songs a single? Or is that just the way modern country is written? I also just looked at the album cover and thought, Wow, that's a lot of hair. She must go through tons of conditioner.
“The Outside”: I honestly cannot figure out what this song is about. Is she an outsider? Was she jilted? So many questions.
“Tied Together with a Smile”: OH MY GOD THIS IS LIKE ONE DIRECTION'S “WHAT MAKES YOU BEAUTIFUL.” I'VE HEARD THAT SONG BEFORE.
“Stay Beautiful”: I know that she was super young when wrote these songs, but this one has pretty mature and wise sentiment of “Hey, you do you. If we happen, great. If we don't, no biggie. You stay golden, Ponyboy.”
“Should've Said No”: Who are these dudes she is writing about? Is it still Drew? I hate Drew.
“Mary's Song (Oh My My)”: Is she Mary in this song? Or is she singing to Mary? I hope it's the latter.
“Our Song”: Cute.
“I'm Only Me When I'm With You”: This isn't really country at all, is it? Oh, wait, I just heard a fiddle. Never mind.
“Invisible”: AKA The Stalker's Anthem.
“A Perfectly Good Heart”: This feels like an afterthought song. Like it was made out of leftover pieces of other songs. Not my favorite.
“Teardrops on My Guitar”: Drew again? I like the Radio Single Remix version better, which is probably why this was tacked on at the end.
OK, it was better than I thought it would be. However, this album does nothing to disprove the fact that she only writes about boys and how they break her heart. Hopefully the next album will have some songs about parties and aliens or anything other than boys.

There Is One Movie Neil DeGrasse Tyson Approves Of Scientifically
After famously criticizing Gravity , the astrophysicist — and host of Fox’s COSMOS: A Spacetime Odyssey — doesn’t know if he’ll ever publicly fact-check a film’s science again. Praising a film’s science, however, he can do.

AUSTIN — When acclaimed astrophysicist Neil deGrasse Tyson took to Twitter last fall to catalogue the scientific errors in Gravity — “Nearly all satellites orbit Earth west to east yet all satellite debris portrayed orbited east to west” — he had not intended his factual critique to go viral. Not even close.
“I was astonished at the attention the tweets got,” he told BuzzFeed while at the SXSW Film Festival, where the first episode of his scientific TV series COSMOS: A Spacetime Odyssey screened before its series premiere on Fox. “I have some metrics for how far a tweet will reach. I had no way to have predicted it [would be] on Today, and “Weekend Update” [on] Saturday Night Live, and on CBS Morning Show, and the blogosphere.”
Tyson's shock was partly due to the fact that this was far from the first time he's critiqued science in a film. He famously got James Cameron to replace the night sky in the 2012 re-release of Titanic , and he once schooled Jon Stewart on the rotation of the globe that opens The Daily Show . (And then there was the time Tyson, as the director of the Hayden Planetarium in New York, was the most visible scientist in the successful effort to de-list Pluto as a planet, a different sort of fact-check.) Tyson explained, however, that he only tries to weigh in on a movie's accuracy “if the film has a premise that it's getting things right.” “I don't tell you the bad physics in Star Wars,” he noted.
The Gravity tweets, however, garnered so much attention so quickly — even after Tyson clarified that he did enjoy the film “very much” — that it's given the Harvard and Columbia educated scientist pause about the whole notion of pop-culture fact checking.
“I don't know if I'll do it again, given how people just went crazy,” he said. He happily listed the science that Gravity got right, including the appearance of liquid water in space, the orientation of the stars in space, and the physics to how Sandra Bullock tumbled backward when she first tried to use the fire extinguisher. “But that's not as interesting as picking out the few things that it got wrong,” he asserted.
Then again, it's doubtful Tyson will keep to that mild declaration. When pressed to list films that did indeed get the science right, something compels Tyson — perhaps his sense of scientific rigor, his sense of showmanship, or both — to note when those films also got something wrong, even when it is Tyson's stated favorite film ever.

“I love The Matrix,” said Tyson without hesitation. “The Matrix 1 — not 2 or 3, of course. But that's my single favorite film of all time. I like the visual effects. I like the story. I like the premise. It gets one thing wrong with the physics, but I'll forgive it, because it did so much else so well. That part where [Laurence Fishburne] holds up the battery and says [the machines] are breeding humans to serve as a source of energy for their civilization, so that we're just really like a battery, a copper top. That's a weak point in the storytelling, because you don't make a human, and use the energy of the human, because you have to put energy in a human to begin with. Whatever energy that you're putting in the human, use that to drive your civilization. Any time energy transfers from one form to another, you lose efficiency. You're losing some of your energy. And a human is not the most efficient way to express the energy that you're feeding it. But then they wouldn't have a story. So I gotta give them something.”

“The story as it plays out lasts a month,” said Tyson of the romantic comedy written by and starring Steve Martin about a weatherman and a magical highway traffic billboard. “How do I know that? Because they had the moon in the sky at night changing phase. And you know he put it there because he put it there, and each couple of days, its slightly bigger, and it goes through its phases. I thought that was great. I put a check in the box for thinking about connecting your storytelling to the cosmos.”
Unfortunately, Tyson's praise only goes so far: “What he got wrong was the moon grew in the wrong direction. So you did good for thinking about the universe, but next time call somebody!”
