This Badass Teenage Girl Chased Down A Man Who Flashed Her

Jodie Schofield chased the alleged flasher for 2 miles, and then had him arrested.

When a man reportedly flashed 16-year-old Jodie Schofield in an alleyway in Salford, he probably did not expect to then be chased down for 2 miles by the angry teenager.

On her way home, Schofield says that a man appeared in an alleyway she was walking through and exposed himself.

The Manchester Evening News reports that Schofield immediately chased after the man for 2 miles — until her screams alerted two builders who helped detain the flasher.

I saw him peeking around the corner and then he disappeared. I shouted at him and told him to stop but he was just laughing at me the whole time and I didn't want him to get away with it.

I was running after him for ages — about 30 minutes — but I just didn't want him to get away. After a while two builders saw us and I was shouting what had happened so they managed to get hold of him and keep him there until the police arrived.

The police detained the 52-year-old man who has since been released on bail until 1 May.

How To Make The Starring Pastry From Wes Anderson’s New Movie

The team behind The Grand Budapest Hotel let us in on the fiercely guarded recipe for Mendl’s Courtesan au Chocolat.

If you've already seen The Grand Budapest Hotel , the latest (tiny blockbuster) film from King of Whimsy Wes Anderson, you know which character really saves the day: a little tower of cream-filled pastries called a Courtesan au Chocolat. If you haven't seen it yet, you'll get your chance when it opens in more cities and theaters on March 14.

According to Budapest producer Jeremy Dawson, the pastry “was part of the story from the beginning.” They asked a local baker in Gorlitz, Germany, where the film was shot (Anemone Müller of Cafe CaRe) to come up with something similar to a classic religieuse pastry. Then she worked with Anderson to perfect the final look.

The good news is that, when you leave the theater hungry, you'll be prepared to address the problem. Although the fictional baker Herr Mendl would never give away the secret recipe for his confection, Anderson's team was kind enough share Müller's version, along with a video showing how to make it.

It's not too complicated. First, you make a simple choux pastry dough.

Then pipe the dough into three sizes of dollops.

Britain Will Have Its First Same-Sex Married Couples From Midnight Tonight

Thanks to a quirk in the law the UK will recognise their marriage at the stroke of midnight – two weeks before the first ceremonies will take place.

This is Celia Kitzinger and Sue Wilkinson. At midnight tonight they'll become one of the first same-sex couples to have their marriage recognised as legal under UK law.

Same-sex couples getting married in England and Wales will have to wait until Saturday 29th March to hold their ceremony but a quirk in the law – first reported by BuzzFeed – means couples who married overseas will have their unions automatically recognised from tomorrow onwards.

This includes Celia Kitzinger and Sue Wilkinson, two university professors who married in Canada in 2003 and spent the last decade campaigning for their partnership to be recognised in Britain. Tomorrow, thanks to the government's decision to bring forward the Marriage (Same Sex Couples) Act, that day will finally come.

“It's like being turned into a pumpkin on the stroke of midnight,” Celia told BuzzFeed. “We'll be sitting there in bed with a bottle of champagne and at the stroke of midnight we'll turn into a married couple. We're going away to a hotel, having a nice meal and the at midnight we'll be wife and wife again!”

There's no paperwork and no formal process. But when the day switches from Wednesday to Thursday all overseas same-sex marriages will at last be legally recognised.

And for the first time there will be couples in Britain who are able to call themselves husband and husband, or wife and wife in the eyes of the law.

“Sue got a temporary job in Vancouver for two years and it just happened to be at the period when Canada was debating legalising same-sex marriage. The decision was initially really practical,” explains Celia.

“The gay movement in Canada won their battle [for marriage equality] and I was going backwards and forwards between England and Canada to be with Sue. Once you've been through 5 or 6 times a year and you get looked at funnily by the customs officials and then there were issues with apartments and bank accounts. Marriage was just the easy option.”
