How To Make Spaghetti With Herbed Ricotta And Garlic

Serves 4
Recipe by Rebekah Peppler
INGREDIENTS
1 lb spaghetti
5 cloves garlic
1/2 cup basil leaves
1/2 cup parsley leaves
1 small bunch chives (about 1/2 cup, chopped)
2 cups ricotta cheese
1 tablespoon olive oil
kosher salt and freshly ground pepper, to taste
PREPARATION
Cook spaghetti according to package directions, until al dente. Drain through a colander, reserving about a cup of the pasta water.
Thinly slice garlic cloves, and set aside. Slice basil leaves into thin ribbons, and coarsely chop chives and parsley. In a medium mixing bowl, combine the chopped herbs and the ricotta, and mix to combine.
In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium-low heat, and add sliced garlic. Cook for 2 minutes, until garlic is soft, then add the cooked pasta, 1 1/2 cups of the herbed ricotta, and ¼ cup of the reserved pasta water. Toss together and season with salt and pepper. Continue to heat, tossing occasionally, until the cheese has melted and a sauce has formed.
Transfer to a serving bowl and dollop with the remaining 1/2 cup ricotta.

Republican Senator Who Voted To Defund NPR Says He Listens To NPR
He declined to mention that on the show.
Republican Arizona Sen. Jeff Flake appeared on the NPR show Wait Wait…Don't Tell Me! and said, “If an NFL player can come out as gay, a Republican senator can come out as an NPR listener.”
Flake, however, voted “aye” on HR 1076 in 2011 to “prohibit federal funding of National Public Radio and the use of federal funds to acquire radio content.”

Make sure you can afford it.
Yes, the crown molding and new shower seem amazing now, but in three months when you're pinching pennies to pay rent those amenities might not look so hot. Make a budget and stick to it. You might not get the perfect place, but you won't get the one that will send you to the poor house, either.

Don't pay for anything until you've seen the apartment.
There are many ways to be scammed, and apartment hunting is one of them. If someone wants to charge you to see an apartment then that is a red flag. If they want to rent you the apartment sight unseen that is a double red flag. Basically, do not exchange any money until you are sure this is a legit transaction on a place you want to live in.

If the landlord seems too eager to rent you the place, be careful.
Sometimes the landlord just might actually be eager, but if they want to bypass credit checks and such then chances are this might not end well. Without credit checks and paper trails it will be tougher to rectify things down the line, if need be. It also means there may be something seriously wrong with the building or apartment itself. However, if you are willing to roll the dice just don't say I didn't warn you.

Gauge your landlord.
This is something you should really think about even though it seems sort of weird. Things to consider: Do they live on-site? How close is their apartment to yours? Do they seem like they'll be all up in your business? Many a great apartment has been ruined by an awful landlord, so try and get a good feeling for yours before it's too late.

This Game Will Save Your Life When “Flappy Bird” Is Gone
Flappy Bird ‘s creator says he’s had enough: he’s pulling his game from the App Store. But don’t worry, addicts! Badland is here to save you.
Nguyen Ha Dong, creator of the unlikely super-hit game Flappy Bird, claims he's going to pull the game from the App Store. His reasons are as mysterious as his game's insanely addictive qualities, but he seems serious:
So, what comes after Flappy Bird? There's actually a fantastic answer to this question: Badland . The game uses a very similar mechanic — round, birdlike creatures flaps their wings when you tap the screen. It's gorgeous, fun, and varied, and it was one of the best games of last year. BuzzFeed's Joe Bernstein explained why:
The game, which asks you to help a race of flying, coal-black fuzzbubbles escape from the chains, pulleys, spikes, and cogs encroaching on their forest paradise, pulls the player in with its incredible look, silhouettes layered on top of storybook backgrounds. And it keeps the player engaged through an increasingly difficult and ingenious floating and flapping mechanic.
Since its release the game has increased in size dramatically — there are dozens upon dozens of interesting levels, and a year later I haven't gotten bored with it. (It's $4 on iOS and free (with in-app purchases) on Android.)
It doesn't quite scratch the same itch as Flappy Bird when you first start playing. It's more relaxing, much more complex, and a lot easier. But give it time.
