In Medieval Europe, cookshops provided ready-made meals — such as pies made with animal offals. Cookshops were unsanitary and often served spoiled food, like the infamous Tabard Inn from Chaucer's Canterbury Tales . Mm…organ pies.

Oysters were fast food once. Yep, oysters.
Street food carts appeared in New York City between the 1700s and 1800s selling oysters from the Hudson River's 350 miles of oyster bays. Jonathan Swift once said, “It was a brave man who first ate an oyster.” Well, that guy's discovery essentially fed New York City on-the-go for decades.

NBC Correspondent Repeatedly Asks Bode Miller About His Brother’s Death During Post-Race Interview
Following his bronze-medal winning run in the Super-G competition, Bode Miller was asked several questions by NBC reporter Christin Cooper about his recently deceased brother. Many viewers felt the questions were too invasive.
American alpine skier Bode Miller won the bronze medal in Sunday's Super-G competition, giving him a total of six Olympic medals over his career — the most of any U.S. skier.

This Homeless Man Says He’s One Of The Best Chess Players In Cambridge
Slide Martins calls himself a “Knight of the Road”.
This is 61-year-old Slide Martins with his dogs Check, 13, and Mate, 3.
Slide, who says he got his name because he was conceived in a playground, regularly offers games to the city's “brightest and best”. He doesn't do drugs but he does drink, and he claims the drunker he gets the better he plays.

He told Cambridge News that he offers the games as a way of keeping out of trouble with the police.
The chess games he offers mean he can't be arrested for begging. He doesn't charge for the games but accepts donations.
He told the paper: “I do get beat occasionally but I mostly win. They are not very bright in Cambridge – they wouldn’t have to go to college if they were.”
